Year 7 Enrichment Classes

The Year 7S Class has been functioning since the middle 1980's. Over the last 3 years a collaborative approach has been taken between the primary feeder schools and our campus to identify Gifted and Talented students. Data collection is completed by Year 6 teachers and their Principals, who look at the Basic Skills Test, Primary Writing Tasks, class and year placement and student commitment. These students are then ranked 1-30 for each school and all data is collated and offers of placement given. Two Year 7S classes are formed and teachers are then selected to deliver the curriculum.

Ongoing identification of students' talents will allow for more individualised instruction. Excursions include a visit to Challenge Ranch to help develop team spirit and co-operation for the year ahead. All students are expected to compete in the Australian Schools Competitions throughout the year as well as participating in motivational talks and excursions to enhance the program.
